You’re from Atlanta, tell me how has it affected your music?
Dae Dae: Being from Atlanta has affected my music in a good way. Growing up and listening to all these Atlanta rappers, it’s influenced the person I am today and I knew that if I wanted to be a successful artist, I had to find my own sound by adding my own twist and flavor.
How did you get your stage name Dae Dae?
Dae Dae: It all started with my friends, they kept calling me Dae Dae and even though at that point I wasn’t feeling it, I gave into it and it became my nick name. Now, I rock with it.
I know growing up for you was tough, when would you say you started to take music seriously?
Dae Dae: It started when I was 13 with rhyming, and when I got to high school, I got into some trouble and dropped out, so music became my escape. I recall asking my pops about buying a dirt bike just for fun, but after talking to him for a couple of days, I decided into buying a small studio. Ever since then, I’ve been going hard with the music.
Who are some of the biggest influences in your career?
Dae Dae: Andre 3000, he’s been a huge influence for me, and growing up, one of the first albums my pops bought me was Bow Wow’s and Lil Romeo’s. You would always find me listening to their albums when I was younger. I would also have to say Anthony Hamilton, Drake, and Rick Ross too. I really like how Rick always has multiple beats with everything he does.
How did you link up with 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne for the “Spend It” remix?
Dae Dae: That’s so crazy for me because the record was already getting so much hype in Atlanta and then I have two major guys I’ve grown up listening to like 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne to be apart of the remix. That’s crazy! How it came about, “Spend It” got to 2 Chainz and then I’m sure he showed Wayne and we made it happen.
