Soon after Short and Kurupt’s sets, the veteran Nelly took the stage and quickly reminded us of his *derrty south* legacy. Going through hits from his humble beginnings to his now-solidified veteran cuts, Nelly performed tracks like “Tip Drill,” “Country Grammar,” “Shake Ya Tail Feather, and “Air Force Ones.”

The “Ride With Me” emcee also catered to the ladies with his smash hits “Hot In Here” and the Kelly Rowland-featuring chart topper “Dilemma.” Of course Nelly didn’t forget to show love to those who always support him. Midway through his set, the rapper thanked the late-great Nate Dogg as he shared a few words from the legendary West Coast artist before his passing in 2011.

With that being said, Nelly’s biggest hits had every single fan in the room standing up, dancing, and signing to every single lyric at the top of their lungs.

Towards the end of the night, folks at the Shrine Auditorium were anxiously waiting for the main headliner of the night, East Coast’s own DMX! The OG delivered nothing but the hits. As the king of hardcore rap, DMX hit the stage starting off with “Get It On The Floor,” then performed staple tracks like “X Gon’ Give It To Ya,” “Where The Hood At,” “What These B*tches Want.” He also nailed a smooth transition between fan favorites “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem” to “Who We Be.”

The rapper’s set was filled with euphoria as he climbed on top of speakers, and past his time limit, which resulted in cutting off his set past 11:45. At that point, 93.5 KDAY’s Rap Show was evidence that fans and listeners still f*ck with the old school West Coast music as it has impacted the culture ultimately in a huge way.

Big ups to DMX for rocking #therapshow stage tonight 🙌🏻
