6lack

1. 6LACK

Back in May of 2016, Zane Lowe got ahold of a song from an unknown 23-year-old in Atlanta and debuted it on his Beats 1 radio show. Little would 6lack know that song would catch on and eventually change the course of his young career. Since its debut, “PRBLMS” has been picking up momentum left and right. But of course, things would only get better when he released his debut project Free 6lack, and now 6lack is on his way to become a musical force in 2017.

2. Jay IDK

Rapid verbal onslaught, and flow blanketed with variety, Jay IDK (Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge) brings us the hunger of an emcee while dropping his Hip-Hop education on fans and critics alike. Hailing from Maryland, this 23-year-old rapper is blasting an understanding of Hip-Hop legends, all while displaying his own lane for the title. His latest project, Empty Bank was another sign of growth from the future star, who followed up his Subtrap album in a major way. Stay connected with Jay IDK and be sure to keep an eye open for him in 2017.

3. Nick Grant

The question everyone in the industry seems to be asking is, who is Nick Grant? The young emcee from South Carolina, brought his poetic talent to Atlanta as a teen and since then has been paving his way to the ears of many. Influenced by the likes of Nas and Biggie, one can’t help but hear how he spits. Take his song “The Sing Along,” where he expresses conflicting feelings of supporting black men’s uninspiring musical catalog in an effort to help black men who’ve made it out of the streets stay out of the streets. Be on the look out for Nick Grant’s debut album, Return Of The Cool, which drops this upcoming January 13th.

lud foe

4. Lud Foe

Lud Foe comes to us straight from the West Side of Chicago, Illinois and you might have heard his name by now. He caught our attention in 2016 after releasing numerous hits some of which were “I’m Da Man” and “Cuttin Up.” His song “I’m Da Man” not only gained popularity but was also remixed by Lil Durk and Lil Herb. We’re pretty sure you’ll be hearing more of Lud Foe all soon enough.

dae dae

5. Dae Dae

An Atlanta emcee who hit before he released his first mixtape, Dae Dae knew he had made it when he wrote “Wat U Mean (Aye, Aye, Aye).” The rapper had spent time in the studio, but never allowed his music to be heard by the public until late 2015. He was working construction when he decided “Wat U Mean (Aye, Aye, Aye)” would be his debut track and when it dropped in 2015, it instantly became a major hit. In 2016, the KarenCivil.com team caught up with Dae Dae, who talked to us about his life, music career and mixtape, 4 Reasons. Check out our Civil Scope Interview with Dae Dae and be sure to be on the look out for more of him in the year to come.
