1. Kanye’s “Saint Pablo Tour” meltdown

It’s all fun and games until you call out Jay Z and Beyonce.

Kanye West took the “King of Rants” role a little too far during the last few shows of his Saint Pablo Tour. From calling out just about everyone from Jay Z, to Beyonce, to Drake and more, coupled with the lengthy rants, multiplied by him shutting down shows after only a few songs, it’s no surprise he had to axe the entire tour. But, before the chaos, Ye had the entire hip-hop world in his palms, with the floating stage and the unique tour setup. Easily one of the biggest moments of 2016.

2. Beyonce’s “LEMONADE” and everything surrounding it

Who can drop a surprise album in everyone’s lap with a visual album and snatch wigs at the same time? None other than Beyonce!

Whether your were old school or new school, LEMONADE was the anthem for women everywhere. Regardless of the speculation it generated about Jay Z having an affair with “Becky with the good hair,” the masterpiece album was the voice for everyone who has experienced hurt in their lives. Beyonce found a way to divulge about the skeletons in her closet, empower women with the strength to find what makes themselves happy, all the while showing that it’s okay to celebrate our flaws. Not to mention the passion she put behind recognizing the Black Lives Matter movement in every aspect possible. Thanks, Bey.

3. Troy Ave Irving Plaza incident

Getting shot is the last thing Troy Ave expected when he appeared as T.I.’s guest during his concert at the Irving Plaza in New York.

On May 25th, shots were fired during the show that hit Troy and killed his bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter. Not only did he lose his friend, but Troy ended up being the one hauled off in cuffs for “attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.” Troy’s attorney confirmed that his client didn’t even have a gun in the venue and none of if would have happened if Irving Plaza and Live Nation provided proper security. Ave was released on bail, but plans to continue to go forward with his lawsuit against the plaza and Live Nation. Not a happy moment, but certainly a major one.

4. Guwop’s home!

May 26th was like Christmas for the hip-hop community: The day Gucci came home.

After being locked up since 2013, Guwop became a free man this year. Since his release, Gucci has been fired up like nothing’s changed. Everyone in the game lined up to be by his side and get a chance to celebrate his release. Following a brief house arrest stint, Gucci dropped three albums, several notable features and got engaged to the love of his life. Talk about a comeback year.

5. The “Famous” Video & Taylor Swift caught lying

Who can forget the controversial “Famous” video? Most importantly, who can forget how Taylor Swift was caught in a big lie?

We don’t have to remind you of the infamous VMA interruption that started all the tension between the rap artist and pop princess. Even though the drama was suppose to be put to bed, Kanye made a direct mention of Taylor in his song “Famous.” Besides his verse saying, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**** famous,” he also had a mock-nude Swift in bed with him and other celebrities for the official video. That seemed to cut deep for Taylor, so she publicly shamed Ye for the comment claiming she had no idea he was going to use the verse.

Well, that didn’t go over well with him or Mrs. West. Kim Kardashian took matters into her own hands to prove her husband’s innocence when she posted a video of a phone conversation Kanye and Taylor had about the song where she said, “I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice.”

Talk about a ride-or-die…
