1. Lupe Fiasco – Tetsuo & Youth

Four years in the making, Lupe Fiasco’s Tetsuo & Youth is simply a work of genius. In each season of the album he displays a masterclass of rapping. Where the most lyrical of MCs can sometimes underwhelm is the musical aspect of their work, but this masterpiece checks all the boxes and keeps us heavily anticipating the three albums Lupe’s set to drop in 2016.

mac miller

2. Mac Miller – GO:OD AM

After announcing a whopping $10 million deal with Warner Bros. towards the end of 2014, Mac Miller spent most of this year quiet. However, he made nothing short of an impactful return with GO:OD AM. The album is some of Mac’s best work and reminds us why he is a dark horse in Hip-Hop who shouldn’t be overlooked for much longer.

the doc 2

3. The Game – The Documentary 2

Sequels to albums which are considered classics often fall short due to expectations being far too high for artists to ever reach, let alone exceed. The Documentary 2 is an exception. Throughout the album, The Game conveys newfound energy and shows that he’s able to adapt to different styles effortlessly.

late nights

4. Jeremih – Late Nights

Many have given Jeremih props for finally being able to release this album but very few have actually acknowledged how great it ended up being. Jeremih proves why he’s one of the most talented voices in R&B music today with catchy melodies entertaining the listener from start to finish. It was well worth the wait.

diddy releases mmm album

5. Puff Daddy – MMM

Our beloved Puff Daddy celebrated his 46th birthday with the release of MMM or Money Makin Mitch. Despite the rather festive occasion many seem to have overlooked the provided platform for a few fresh voices and some talented costars. The music mogul referred to the project as a ‘sonic motion picture’ and indeed he did not disappoint.

1st thank u for Talking on Wale TAAN! The way he tied in the discussions lyrically and from multiple perspectives with a Perfect Sonic compliment. No skip tracks and Genius songs like Helium Balloon, Girls on Drugs, White Shoes,H Town Anthem,Matrimony. 2nd King Los had some powerful songs you described well mixed with some fun tracks still filled with content and wordplay.3rd Lupe should be awarded for his album. It’s Timeless. 4th Joey definitely brought boom bap back to mainstream 5th. That Raekwon album is dope. I feel ppl dismiss it because some of the features and the sonic marriage of old and new. He executed very well and lyrically sounds better then ever. Guess not Obfcl 1 or 2 but appreciate difference. Joel Ortiz Human and Czarface should be more recognised. Puff did do his thing on Money Makin Mitch too. That is probably the most criminally slept on along with Czarface , CNN Lessons, and Redman Mudface
