Scooter Braun RMC

One of the most anticipated panels of the conference came after a quick networking lunch break, as Scooter Braun did a Q&A session, moderated by Andre Harrell. The famed manager to the likes of Justin Bieber, Tori Kelly, and tons of some of the biggest artists today answered tons of questions about running his business in the industry, his come-up story, and what inspires him to sign an artist. Braun shared some pretty cool stories for music fans in general, such as the time he almost stopped Usher from recording “Confessions Pt. 2” before Jermaine Dupri prevented it.

Not only that, but he even had his spotlight on the panel stolen when audience members were able to ask him questions, with some even showing off their own musical talents once in front of the microphone. Despite the disapproval that the crowd gave one of the aspiring artists, Braun tried to encourage him to work on his craft, professionalism, and presentation. He even commended his bravery for getting up to show his talents in front of such a large crowd, and his hunger for success.

Later, one girl took to the microphone for a chance to sing in front of Braun, where she actually sang one of Tori Kelly’s famous tracks flawlessly, met with a standing ovation from the crowd. Immediately following, Braun encouraged the Bad Boy label A&R’s to meet with her and exchange contact information. Braun was met with much applause of his humble attitude, with many attendees feeling much more enlightened. While speaking with us following, he even revealed that despite his near-stopping of “Confessions Pt. 2” being recorded, Braun’s favorite R&B album is actually the entire Confessions project. “Is it weird if I say ‘Do It To Me?'” he says when we asked about his favorite track. “I won’t play it in the bedroom. I already told Usher I don’t want to hear his voice during that time [laughs],” he jokes.
