LUPE: While there was tons of artists who were capable of taking over the summer this year, my eyes were set on R&B’s crooner, The Weeknd. The House of Balloons vocalist has his own way of mixing sweet vocals with poisonous lyrics.

The Canadian native has proven to come a long way since his dark Trilogy days, and it’s no surprise that this summer was dominated by Abel. Allow me to refresh your mind with a few solid pointers:

It all started when The Weeknd’s songs “Often,” and “Where You Belong,” appeared on the Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack, shortly after fans started going nuts. Then in mid April, festival season started to arrive and Abel killed his first festival appearance at Coachella. If that wasn’t enough, The Weeknd continued his strand of festivals, as he turned up the heat at Lollapalooza, Billboard Hot 100 Festival, and this past weekend at Made In America.

The Toronto lover was also featured on several magazine features this summer from Vogue to Billboard’s Magazine.

Thought that was it? Think again. The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind The Madness is dominated the charts, currently number one for the second week in a row and from the looks of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart, Abel now has 12 songs in the top 50, more than any non-rapper in a single week. Plus, his Michael Jackson inspired “Can’t Feel My Face” smash-hit has gone platinum. He also just recently returned back to his hometown to give his Canadian loyal fans a free concert for all the love and support he’s been receiving these past four years.

Mind you, The Weeknd is also packing his bags and hitting the road with Travi$ Scott and Banks Halsey this fall for his The Madness Fall Tour.

As you can tell, there’s no doubting Abel is coming on top this summer and ending 2015 with a bang!
