You’ve always had a lot of energy and passion in not only your music, but your live performances and interviews, etc. Where does that stem from?

Young Buck: That’s just always been who I am. That’s what made the name “Young Buck” because as a child, I was one of the first and one of the youngest to jump off the porch, meaning I was one of the youngest guys out there dibbling and dabbling with the older folks getting money in the streets in a real way. I was looked upon in my neighborhood as the youngest one. I had a big homie in the hood who was hard on me, taught me a lot. When he wasn’t around, I used to sneak down there to go and get to the money and when he would catch me he’d say, ‘get your young buck ass outta here boy. Your little young buck ass boy’ [laughs]. So it kinda stuck with me because he was one of the big guys in the hood and then once it got to my Mom and she said, “Buck get your ass up” — I knew it was my name.

What’s the status of Cashville Records/G-Unit South?

YB: Well a lot of people are familiar with Cashville Records. That’s my label and was always my focus without G-Unit and now with G-Unit. G-Unit South was a brand that I started and with the separation between me and 50, it was put on hold and that’s what made Cashville Records continue to move. Cashville Records has always been G-Unit South and now that the issue with 50 is out the way, we’re back at it. As far as the artists, shout out to Lil Murda, D-Tay, they still right here a part of G-Unit South, Cashville Records. Hi-C’s been doing his thing around the city. Of course I got the Outlawz, they’ve been down since day one. C-Bo from the West Coast, nothing’s changed with him either. I got another artist by the name of Ruckus 100 and he’s from the Chi as well as another artist named D Strap. I got two more artists that I gotta put in the middle of this interview. Lil Mac just got out of prison and you’re about to see a lot of him. I also got a guy by the name of KO that just recently got released from prison. I met him during my prison bid and he’s one of the most talented artists I’ve ever seen in my entire life. It’s almost an honor just to be able to bring to the fans what I’m about to bring with this artist KO. So you remember I tell you because you’re the first interview I spoke on this artist and like I said, I discovered him in the penitentiary and it’s a blessing that he’s able to be home at this time.

Before I let you go, what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen 50 do?

YB: I done seen 50 smack the shit outta somebody bro. Straight up.

That’s crazy. For what?

YB: I’ll just leave it at that, man. For what, why or whatever, that’s none of my business.
