The Grammys may have aired on Sunday (Feb. 8) but the awards show is still a major topic for water cooler conversations. Not so much the awards itself, rather, Kanye West’s near-interruption and eventual post-Grammys rant.

“I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more,” Kanye explained to hosts Terrance Jenkins, Khloe Kardashian, Christina Milian and Zanna Roberts Rossi. “And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should’ve given his award to Beyonce.”

His comments has garnered the response of Garbage’s lead singer, Shirley Manson, who wrote an open letter to the rapper on her Facebook. “It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry,” she wrote. “You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK.”

While even Beck recounts to US Weekly that he was, in fact, surprised at his win and expected the award to be given to Beyoncé, next in line in his defense is John Legend. After his thoughts were misconstrued in an interview with US Weekly, where he said people should “lighten up about it.” Legend further explained what he meant by his comments.

“When I said that was funny and people should lighten up about it, that’s what I meant,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “I wasn’t referring to Kanye’s comments after the show which I have now seen and heard. I disagree with those comments.”

I agree with Kanye’s comments about the Grammys. Not about Beck giving his award to Beyonce though. That’s just ridiculous! She has enough awards as it is. Beck put in his work so he deserves his award.

But i believe the Grammy execs need to be fired for not supporting Hip-hop the way they should! They clearly need someonelse to start judging who wins awards.
