Yesterday (Jan. 25), late A$AP Mob founder Steven Rodriguez, affectionately known by fans as A$AP Yams, was celebrated with a quiet, intimate memorial service at New York’s famous Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel. The Upper East Side funeral home has hosted similar services for celebrities close to hip-hop’s heart, like Aaliyah and The Notorious B.I.G.

The public service, announced on Twitter over the weekend, was quiet and somber. His name stood tall within a floral heart arrangement of white roses, while a Coogi sweater hung to the left of his black, closed casket. Upon entry into the service, Yams’ mother cried into the sleeve of the sweater. The casket was fully covered by red roses, to the right stood a framed, Tumblr-inspired photo of Yams riding a white unicorn.

A compilation of A$AP Mob apparel aligned the back – a variation of jerseys and sweaters like a grey A$AP hoodie. Throughout the service, a slideshow of photos from various times in A$AP Yams’ life looped on a small screen including a baby photo of Yams dressed as a pumpkin for Halloween.

During the public service, there were no members of A$AP Mob present, though a private service for friends and family was held afterwards. Guests were given a laminated card featuring a quote from his Twitter account on one side and his photo on the other.

“if i die before i wake
i pray that A$AP will be great
my momma good
my girl be late
so it’ll be another me
and the world be straight.”

Remember A$AP Yams in the gallery below with photos shown in a slideshow during the service. Rest in perfect peace A$AP Yams, you are missed.
