Lindsey: With all of the protests occurring around the country, and the public outrage being expressed worldwide over consistent police brutality, Kendrick is another key factor in raising awareness. Although he can be remarked as much more of a storyteller in his rhymes, from what we have seen in his recent performances, like The Colbert Report, he is ready to lift his voice and speak for the people. Being that he has spent much time bonding, discussing, and recording with J. Cole already, we can only guess that the two easily share an interest in today’s current social injustices. With the success of 2014 Forest Hills Drive, that represents what the people need, and what the people want, and although he has a completely different style, Kendrick’s album content might not be too far off. If there is a time for voices to be heard on racial issues across America, it would be now. Let’s get some Kendrick innovation before we get to the Drake stimulation. We all know that Drizzy is a shoe-in to sell numbers regardless, as his loyal fans have proved over the years. K. Dot’s sophomore release has some extremely high pressure with its lengthy anticipation, so his lyrical power could be a huge benefit for him, as well as the country. Hip-hop is hungry for some realism and boldness, and as the new self-proclaimed ‘King Of New York,’ Kendrick will bring the heat. 2014 was the year of the turn-up, so it’s time we get focused, which is where he can come in strong. Views From The 6 will have to wait, as a lot of hip-hop fans are out to save lives before they get their lives. Kendrick, my man, we need you. America needs you.
