What can you tell me about the other project?

Victoria Monet: It’s also called Nightmares and Lullabies, it’s just Act I on October 30th and Act II on November 18th. I just wanted to separate it because 12 songs from a new artist is a lot to consume at one time and I want people to live with it a little bit. You get a taste of me throughout the holidays and the end of the year.

So, what’s your favorite holiday?

Victoria Monet: I like Christmas. I like giving to people and making them smile, picking out the gifts and sometimes it gets hard because you will get a gift that you will like and say “I want to keep this, because I really like this but let me just give it to her.” It’s a really good time, people are usually off work and you get to spend more time with your family.

Is there a fond Christmas memory or the best gift you got thus far?

Victoria Monet: I got so hype when my mom got me a scooter. I must have been 12 or 13, all my friends had one and they would roll past me and I’m walking. She finally got me that scooter and I was like “thank you! you are the best mom ever!” She was a single mom so she was really happy that she got me something I was hype about.

How would you describe your style?

Victoria Monet: Don’t laugh but it’s like a urban Pochantas. I like nature a lot and I was kind of a weird kid. I was only child so I was kind of into art. I like to shop at Michael’s, I like to create my own stuff so the things I wear in my hair I often make, the little feathers and stuff. These little bandanas I’ll go online and design them and tie them around my head. I always want to be creative, always in my style and bring it into the artistic realm of things. I like to mix Tomboy things with girly things. Kind of like a glamboy type thing.

Who do you feel like is a style icon for you?

Victoria Monet: Honestly, Rihanna is bomb. Her team always get’s it right. From make up to hair to always switching it up and keep it refreshing. She separates herself a little bit because a lot of girls use skin to standout, but she can be in a big sweater and a big ass coat and look really cool so I admire that tomboy chic she has going on. It seem like it took a while for her to get there but I like that, I like the transition too.

What would you consider as your staple style piece?

Victoria Monet: Probably a few rings. I want hand jewelry and then I’m so into these new fashion tubes? Gold everything. Everything gold, earrings, rings.

What do you want to make your lasting impression?

Victoria Monet: I always want to come with quality work from imaging to styling I have to be hands on. The same with Kanye and how he is so into “these lights have to be perfect,” I want to be that involved. I don’t want to be the puppet girl to where it’s like “Anything you want!”

Who are you looking forward to working with in the future?

Victoria Monet: Beyonce. I have to get over that starstruck thing before I walk in that room so she’s not “You’re weird, get out.” I want to make sure I give her the quality of why we ended up working together to her as well. She’s been around since I’ve been really young, I don’t want it to seem like I’m copying what she has been doing. i just want to bring whatever God gave me into that room and influence what she is doing too.

Anything else we should know?

Victoria Monet: My website is where you can get everything. VictoriaMonetMusic.com, my project is preorder right now and as soon as the first one is out the second one is available for preorder. I want people to talk to me online, talk to me on Twitter, talk to me on Instagram. This is my first project that I’m putting out so I want to hear the comments and opinions.
