What’s your take on the current state of hip-hop?

Logic: It’s awesome, man. Just the Internet in general and how you can implement it to really blow up and do your thing is cool. I’m one of the very last guys that got like really, really successful [through the Internet]. I mean, c’mon, in 2010 you had Mac Miller, you had Wiz Khalifa, you had J. Cole, you had Kendrick, you had Wale, you had Cudi, and all of these different people who were blowing up because of the Internet. Back then it was like a secret, and now it’s so over saturated that even if you’re incredible, there’s just so many rappers. But I think the current state of hip-hop is great. It’s fucking awesome.

So let’s jump into the album. First of all, who the hell is Nikki?

Logic: [Laughs] Everybody wants to know who Nikki is and everyone’s gonna have to wait. Look, I just hope people listen to the album from beginning to end. If they do, they’ll find out who she is and it will blow your mind. I promise.

Any features on the upcoming album?

Logic: Well, on the standard edition, there will be no rap features. That’s all I’ll say on that. However, on the deluxe, you’re gonna hear a familiar voice or two.

Who are some producers you’re working with other than No I.D.?

Logic: It’s funny. There was a song on the album that I did and No I.D. loved it, so I just gave it to him and let him take it to the next level. So that’s the one that he’s doing, but everything else on the album is pretty much produced by myself and my main producer 6ix. There’s a couple other people for sure: Tae Beast and Skhyehutch from TDE, there’s S1 who did “Power” by Kanye, DJ Khalil. There’s some other guys, but like 75% of the album was done by me and 6ix.
