ALLEY: When it comes to standout summer tracks, it’s quite obvious who is bringing the heat. All it took was a verse, two-step and a Vine and now you can’t party without hearing “Hot Ni**a” rotated at least four times (that is of course if you’re up North). I can’t make it down a block in Brooklyn without hearing Bobby Shmurda blaring through someone’s car speakers. It doesn’t matter what set it off, “Hot Ni**a” is that mildly gangster joint you have to bump to.

“No Flex Zone” has had its moment. Prior to #ShmoneyDance flooding every caption on Instagram, it was all about flexing. A summer hit doesn’t have to be lyrically sound or adhere to any rules of composition; all it needs is that something to get you hooked. Shmurda’s dance is currently the best thing since sliced bread. You can still flex but you aren’t cool if you’re not hitting your shmoney dance–it’s not just about the song, it’s about the movement.

It’s rare for the “gangstas” to have a summer smash track. Summer has everything to do with partying, living carefree, traveling but somehow drug dealing and gun talk are the words even your grandma are spitting. With cosigns from Jay Z, Beyoncé, Meek Mill and not to mention a record deal with Epic, what more accolades are really necessary to prove that “Hot Ni**a” has taken over the rest of hip-hop’s summer?

“No Flex Zone” had its fun but the summer is on fire courtesy of Bobby Shmurda.
