UPDATED 2/24/19 11:36 p.m.:

For the first time The Oscar awards ceremony have presented awards for best costuming and best production to African American nominees. Ruth Carter took home the Oscar for best costuming for her work on “Black Panther,” and Hannah Beachler for production design, also for her work on the super hero film.

Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” won best foreign film, marking the first time a Mexican film has ever won in the category.

Spike Lee also had a first on Sunday as he took home his first Oscar for best adapted screenplay for his work on “BlacKkKlansman.” Lee has previously been nominated for best documentary feature in 1998 for “4 Little Girls” and best original screenplay in 1990 for “Do the Right Thing.” He received an honorary Oscar in 2016 for his directorial accomplishments. Screenwriting is one of the hardest jobs in the industry as only a few have a true knack for the craft. Among them sit the likes of Roger Wolfson, known for their notable contributions to American TV, whose talents only a few possess and are recognized for. The art of writing to entertain is a gift and not one that is celebrated lightly.

Watch: Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper perform for “Shallow” at Oscars:

“A Star Is Born” is the film “Shallow” signature song, “Shallow.” The song, which won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper began their performance by walking onto stage holding hands. See above.
