These days, hip-hop producers are becoming just as famous as our favorite artists. Folks like DJ Mustard, Mike WiLL Made It, Hit-Boy, Sonny Digital, London On Da Track, Metro Boomin, KAYTRANADA, and much more have all become recognizable, household names. While those aforementioned producers are worth paying attention to, we want to shed some light on a promising producer known as Flippa, who will join that list of household names before you know it.

You might recognize Flippa’s sound from Kendrick Lamar’s “Wesley Theory” that he co-produced with Flying Lotus — a cut off of Grammy Award winning album, To Pimp A Butterfly.  The sounds of the Sony ATV-signed producer can be discovered in all kinds of music performed by artists such as Rihanna, Eminem, Usher, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys and so much more. “I’m naturally diverse,” he explains. “I go with whatever feels good, not chase what seems to be working at the time.

We sat down with Flippa for our latest Civil Scope, where the vibrant 24-year-old producer talks working on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, winning a Grammy for Rihanna’s Unapologetic, his thoughts on police brutality, and more.
