Dave Chappelle has kicked off his menthol, chain smoking show at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and is simply doing the stint for the paycheck.

“I am just back out here to make enough money to disappear again,” he told his audience last night (June 18). Whether he was telling the truth it is without question that we hope he sticks around for more stand-up and shows. Chappelle has been off the grid but has subtly returned to the comedic front.

Last year, the veteran comedian performed at the Oddball Comedy Tour in Hartford, Conn. where he was heckled and booed off stage. For this eight-day run, there are signs detailing pretty straight forward rules and at the top of the list you will find “No heckling.”

Since leaving his much loved Chappelle’s Show, it appears that the Washington, DC native is only interested in attaching himself to shows and movies that are aligned with his beliefs and make him feel good.

“There’s a method to my madness,” Chappelle said regarding the end of Chappelle’s Show. “It was dramatic, but I feel better.”

For those fans banking on a sequel to Half Baked, they will have to wait for his bank accounts to hit the negative. “When you see Half Baked 2, make no mistake about it, I have completely run out of money,” he said.
