Trey Songz Talks ‘Trigga,’ Two Loves And Why He Supports Chris Brown
by Staff Editor
Trey Songz found his way back into the hot seat at The Breakfast Club this morning (June 3) to promote his upcoming LP Trigga. While “Na Na” is currently Trey’s reigning single spun on the radio and in the club, the crooner reassured the hosts that his sixth album will have some ballads.
“It’s interesting because you know ballads take a longer time to grow and sit and resonate with people but when they do they last longer as far as performing, the impact they had, the emotional connection,” he explained.
Appearing on stage with 50 Cent at Hot 97’s Summer Jam this past Sunday (June 1), the “Foreign” crooner weighed in on his relationship with the Queens rapper. “Fif is actually a funny dude. Just chopping it up with him is very insightful,” he said. “We haven’t talked about touring or anything but we do talk about business endeavors that he wants to bring me apart of. 50 is smarter than a lot of people account him for.”
After performing “Loyal” and getting the Summer Jam crowd to say “Free CB,” Trey is happy to have his fellow Virginian back out.
“Chris and I actually did our first tour together and I always looked at him as a younger brother. He came out on that tour and he probably did like eight dates and I remember just him blowing up,” he said. “I just want to make sure we push each other forward.”
The singer-songwriter tries to keep his personal relationships separate from his music but on Trigga we will be exposed to more of what Trey has experienced. Maybe there will be a song inspired by his former love Lauren London.
