Don’t get it confused Nicki Minaj is a rapper, period. Don’t tack on the gender adjective to describe her because Young Money’s leading lady isn’t having it.

“I do not see myself as a female rapper anymore,” she said in an interview with MTV. “I’ve worked with the greats and I’ve held my own with the greats and they respect me. So I should respect myself enough to see myself the same way they see themselves.”

It is obvious that Nicki is on a different path career wise with a switch from the boisterous pink wigs to a more natural look and a return to lyrically flossing rather than more pop sounding singles. Check out the full interview below.
