Today (July 17) was the first day that Angie Martinez was on air as a member of the Power 105.1 team and was surprised by Jay Z who called in with a congratulatory message. As ‘The Voice of New York’ reached the end of her show, Hov gave a ring to her new gig from the Hamptons, for some laughter and some words that nearly brought out some tears.

“I would like to share with the world, that I really believe that, you know, what you are about to accomplish will dwarf everything that you’ve ever done because that’s what people who are great do,” Jay spoke. “You are not termed ‘The Voice of New York’ for no reason. You know like you are a institution in New York Radio and that’s a pretty special feat to accomplish.”
