After 5 days of protests that have resulted in tear gas, journalist arrests, rubber bullets, and more, the police have finally released the name of the officer who shot down Michael Brown in Ferguson, St. Louis. According to Chief Thomas Jackson, the officer is Darren Wilson, who has been on the force for six years.

ABC News is also reporting that no disciplinary action has been taken against Wilson since shooting Brown, and that the confrontation resulted from suspicions of an alleged robbery that occurred minutes before. The robbery, which allegedly occurred at a local convenience store, was considered “strong-armed,” and was covered in a police report that was handed out during Jackson’s press conference.

Since the shooting of Michael Brown, citizens have been protesting the police department for their brutality, which has led to violent encounters. A nationwide protest was organized yesterday, where arrests were made in NYC from a march that was led from Union Square to Times Square in Manhattan.

We pray for the family of Michael Brown, and hope that justice can be served.
