Why Drake vs. Lil Wayne Will Be Better Than OTR
by Staff Editor
I’m writing this with the hope that the Beygency won’t be knocking outside my door within the next 15 minutes. But after watching various 6-second Vine vids, grainy Instagram clips, YouTube videos and plenty of photographic documentation following the On The Run tour’s inaugural night, I made the conscious decision to not order tickets to experience Beyzus in the flesh.
Not only are the power couple not coming to the Barclays Center–really Jay?–I’ve practically seen On The Run five times. Without physically being in the stands, I have been able to rock out to their set list, be shocked by their visual surprises and gaze at their dance numbers courtesy of social media. After each show, I just simply scroll to view a regurgitation of the first night in a different city (transportation and ticket money still safely tucked in my purse.)
What gives?
Sure, the couple sharing one stage to perform all of their hits side by side is reason enough to drink unreasonable amounts of caffeine to be the first one to purchase pre-sale tickets. Typically, we get a surprise appearance by either Jay or Bey during one of their shows and are lucky to get maybe one or two of their standout tracks. But a joint tour means we can get “Crazy In Love,” “Drunk In Love” and “On The Run” all at once. This reason, and this reason alone, made me stalk my Ticketmaster account. But upon seeing the extensive recap along my timelines, I realized holding off was the right decision. Unfortunately for some serious stans, like myself, On The Run seems to be just the same ol’ Jay and the same ol’ Bey giving an amazing performance to packed stadiums.
Now, YMCMB may have strategically announced the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour to make things interesting…
