DJ Envy & DJ Drama Settle Past Issues Live On The Breakfast Club
by Staff Editor
The king of the modern day mixtapes DJ Drama was the latest guest on Pow 105’s The Breakfast Club when things got slightly awkward.
The interview started off like any other normal sit down with the beloved trio, except Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee were the only ones asking Drama questions about various things he’s working on, his role at Atlantic Records, and his future plans. DJ Envy was silent as can be. Things took an interesting turn about half way through when Charlamagne noted the awkward tension that sat between his co-host and Drama.
When pushed to talk about it, Envy reminisces on his past experience at Hot 97 and how his departure was less than amicable. When they first formed The Breakfast Club, Envy says, “we had to fight for our lives”, noting how stressful the transition was for his career. There were apparently talks between Drama and Envy to collab on a Breakfast Club/Gangsta Grillz project, but because of the rising tension between Hot 97 and Pow 105, Drama shied away from it. What really bothered Envy was that Drama never gave him the courtesy call to explain himself.
Well, after talking it out, Envy and Drama settled their issues live on The Breakfast Club like grown men. Hit the next page to see the full interview or hit the 12:30 mark to see Envy and Drama’s discussion in particular.
