Def Jam Records has just announced that they’ve added Common to the roster, via No I.D.’s Artium record label. Common’s next album, Nobody’s Smiling, was also announced to be released on July 22 following the release of it’s lead single, “Kingdom,” featuring Vince Staples, which can be heard below. This will be Common’s first studio album since 2011’s The Dreamer/The Believer and will be entirely executive produced by No I.D.
“Common and I have a long history of making great music together,” No I.D. said. “His rich legacy and robust talent are perfect additions to the Def Jam family. It’s particularly significant that he’s coming under our roof for his 10th album as a matured artist and cultural ambassador. It’s a tremendous boost for the spirit of Def Jam as well as the world of hip-hop.”
