The OG lyricist Common has released his 10th studio album Nobody’s Smiling earlier this week, but the Chicago native wastes no time giving us the first set of visuals with his Big Sean collaboration “Diamonds.”

Thanks to Jerome D.’s great work behind the lens, not only do we have a lyrical demolition from both midwest MCs, but we also have a captivating and well-constructed video to go along with it. The intricate and artistic set of visuals takes us from the skylines in Chicago, across Lake Michigan to Sean Don’s home in Detroit, covering a nice bit of the midwest land. In 2014, having visuals are a must. But having videos like this can take an artist to a whole new level.
