According to reports from TMZ, Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers was recorded having a conversation with his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, where he told her to not bring black people to the team’s games as well as many other statements that could be deemed as outwardly racist. Allegedly, the issue started when Stiviano posted a picture that she took with NBA legend Magic Johnson, who she says she’s always admired, to Instagram.

Sterling then claimed that people came to him because of Stiviano’s “broadcasting” of her interactions and associations with black people, even though she herself is black and Mexican. “It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?” (3:30)

“You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want.  The little I ask you is not to promote it on that … and not to bring them to my games.” (5:15)

“I’m just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people.” (7:45)

“…Don’t put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me.  And don’t bring him to my games.” (9:13)

Apparetly, Sterling has a history of racism and has been sued twice by the federal government for refusing to rent property to individuals based on their race and was sued by Elgin Baylor, a former front office employee of the Clippers, for racial discrimination.
