Although still at home due to COVID-19, the group has set the tone for the summer with their undeniable flow and Keith’s ability to bring the best out of his artists. Special guest features include Murda Beatz and Co Cash to also contribute to an amazing summer playlist.
Fast Cash Boyz and Tay Keith took the time out for an exclusive interview to discuss their project, being the hottest new act to come from Memphis, and what to expect next! Check out what the group had to say and listen to their debut EP “F*** The Cash Up” below.
ARIEL: How do you think the project represents who you guys are and where you all are from?
TAY KEITH: “I feel like it represents us a lot because of the fact that we kept a message and we didn’t go uncut and that’s what our city wants. I kind of helped made them more acceptable to mainstream, just me working with the artists that I have worked with in my production kind of made it easier for a lot of Memphis talent to have that raw uncut sound and people not look down upon it.”
ARIEL: You guys are doing a virtual media run really getting this joint project out there, what can fans expect next while we’re at home practicing social distancing?
TAY KEITH: “I know Fast Cash has a lot of music on the way. This was kind of like the breakthrough mixtape, but they already have mixtapes done and albums done beyond this. They just really ready to press go on a lot of stuff. Soon as you know a lot of stuff pass over and we get this push to the world, they’ll be able to get that exposure that they need for all of the new music they have on the way, and even more music we have on the way too.”
ARIEL: During the creation of “F*** The Cash Up,” what would you guys say was your favorite part during the making of everything?
FAST CASH: “In the studio making it, being together vibing. We probably had more of a good time making the songs then shooting the videos.”
ARIEL: You guys have shared stages with plenty of artists such as Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, NBA Youngboy. Is there anybody in mind that you guys would like doing a future collaboration with?
FAST CASH: “Anybody willing to work with us.“
ARIEL: You guys grew up doing music, but what gave you guys the inspiration to come up as a group?
FAST CASH: “We linked up and did one song together, and the whole city just gravitated to it so we just kept doing it. And it was keeping us out the way so it really inspired us to keep doing it.”
ARIEL: Where do you guys see Fast Cash Boyz by the end of 2020?
FAST CASH: “Dropping another project fasho. We should have a bigger fan base and bigger platform fasho. Hopefully we’ll be on the chart. We gone be big.”
