Superstar influence Future Hendrix has crusaded through the rap game for nearly ten years since his debut in the 2010s. For a artist such as Future to have this much drive, it’s hard to imagine slow in momentum any time soon. Recently celebrating one of his beloved mixtapes five-year anniversary, Monster, the artist explains what made that mixtape in particular so special.

“Nobody knew I was recording it. Nobody was really thinking about whether it was going to come out on a major label, they really wasn’t f–kin’ with it at the time. Just being carefree of what you’re recording and just recording the whole ‘tape. There was no pressure. Nobody was trying to figure out a date and I had no certain date I had to meet. It was just unexpected and I just put it out,” the Atlanta rapper tells Billboard

Now, after other major contribution mixtapes like 56 Nights and Beast Mode, and six no. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, Future is taking his talents to the younger generation. Collaborating with 1800 Tequila on their Vol. 2 of 1800 Seconds campaign, Future plans to extend his mentorship with other artists just from being a student in the game.

Last December, Pusha T partnered with 1800 Tequila to release an album with ten up-and-coming artists titled 1800 Seconds. This year, 1800 Tequila is back with that campaign with Future filling the role as a musical mentor for seven contestants. Seven artists from around the world came together with Future and 1800 Tequila to deliver 1800 Seconds, Vol. II. On Monday (Dec. 16) Future released a trailer previewing 1800 Seconds, Vol. II, which will be released this Wednesday (Dec. 18).

“Me being a CEO and me being an executive in the game for a minute, when they presented it, I felt like it was a good time for me. Timing is everything, so it was the right time for me to be a part of this partnership.”

With a new decade around the corner, Future sharing his advice, wisdom, and being able to brand the artists under him is something the rap game needs to see more often for upcoming generations. The 1800 Tequila campaign is set to drive new artists as well as the brand of the Freebandz rapper himself.
