Rapper Tyga has officially signed with label Columbia Records in a multi-million dollar deal. Columbia Records is a division of Sony Music who has played a role in the success of artists such as Beyonce, Lil Nas X, Pharrell Williams, and Adele. According to Variety, this decision came with the intent of expanding his worldwide reach.
His seventh studio album Legendary dropped the beginning of June with features such as Lil Wayne, Blue Face, Chris Brown, Swae Lee, Gunna, and more. After just a day after its release, the album became certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The song Taste featuring Offset recently hit six time platinum in September and tracks like “Dip” ft. Nicki Minaj and YG’s “Go Loko” include some of Tyga’s 2019 hits.
He previously signed a recording contract with Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Republic Records in 2008. Following disputes with Young Money, his fourth album The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty was released independently in 2015. Tyga’s last album was released independently via his label Last Kings and EMPIRE records.
Currently Tyga is on an Australian and New Zealand tour until October 26th. He is set to debut new music under this deal soon, but until then to listen to his latest album see below.
