VIC MENSA AND G HERBO JOIN ALLIANCE FOR SAFETY AND JUSTICE TO CELEBRATE REDUCTION IN ILLINOIS PRISON POPULATION

On the night of July 31, Chicago rappers Vic Mensa and G Herbo meet the Alliance for Safety and Justice (ASJ) and Illinois legislators for dinner in celebration of prison population reduction for their hometown. The state’s passing of bills resulted in a 20% reduction for the Illinois prison population.  

The celebration was held at the Soho House Chicago where Attorney General Kwama Raoul, IL State Legislator Jehan Gordon-Booth, BEATHOUSE’s Tiffany Kumar, Hustle.’s John Monopoly, and artist Nodis joined in on the celebration as well. 

The ASJ is a national organization leading across the country to ensure better safety policies for communities that are most harmed by crime and violence. Originating in California, ways to reduce imprisonment has excelled through ASJ following the launching in 2016.

Joined by Beat House, an agency that offers A&R and social justice initiatives, have recently worked with ASJ to partner artists G-Eazy and Ty Dolla $ign to help spread awareness for injustice in the prison system.
