Forbes Names Jay-Z Hip Hop’s First Billionaire

Earlier this morning, Forbes announced that Jay-Z is hip hop’s first billionaire.
Accumulating all of his fortunes, the rapper, real name is Shawn Carter, is worth a total of $1 billion, making him the first rapper to reach billionaire status. The Roc Nation CEO’s empire includes liquor deals (Armand de Brignac and D’Ussé), art and cash investments, real estate, his record label, music, and streaming service.
While many will argue that Dr. Dre was hip hop’s first billionaire, ‘The Chronic’ rapper actually isn’t. According to the publication, the mega-producer sold his headphone brand, Beats By Dre to Apple for $3 million, bringing his net worth to $850 million.
