Yesterday, Facebook shook the internet after banning a number of controversial figures from their site. Among the names of individuals featured Milo Yiannopoulos, Laura Loomer, Alex Jones, and Minister Louis Farrakhan. As word of Farrakhan’s ban went public, many followers, as well as high-profile public figures, came to the minster’s defense.
Snoop Dogg went to Instagram after the announcement, threatening to boycott the social media network. “All he ever do is tell the truth. But y’all gon’ ban him, though. Alright, what if we ban y’all? What if we stop fuckin’ with y’all, Facebook and Instagram,” Snoop said in a video posted to Instagram.
Roc Nation rapper Jay Electronica took to Twitter to speak on Farrakhan’s ban, saying, “In the end, we will see who is banned and who is not by God, and no matter what you do… #WeLOVEFarrakhan.“
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has led the Nation Of Islam since the early 80s. Many organizations, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, has deemed Farrakhan and NOI as a hate group, while many have praised the minister on his sermons on black empowerment.
