YNW Melly Faces The Death Penalty In Double Murder Case

The “Murder on My Mind” rapper will remain in Broward County jail until a trial date has been set.
The 19-year-old Florida rapper was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder on February 13th stemming from the October 2018 shooting of his friends, Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy), near Fort Lauderdale, FL. Cortlen Henry (YNW Bortlen) was also arrested in connection with the killings.
Cops report that Melly, real name is Jamell Demons, and Cortlen Henry shot the men and staged the crime to make it seem like their friends were killed during a drive-by.
The State of Florida intends to seek the death penalty against Melly. According to legal documents, obtained by TMZ, the State believes it can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Melly killed his friends for financial gain, the murder was especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel, and he committed homicide in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner. The State also believes Melly is a criminal gang member.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Melly hired Boosie’s former lawyer, Jason Roger Williams, to represent him in the trial.
