50 Cent has always given back to the community since the start of his career. This time, the rap and business mogul has sold his mega-mansion in Connecticut with a troubled history for $2.9 million to give to charity. A source tells TMZ that the money will be donated to his G-Unity Foundation, a charity in which 50 founded in 2003.

It’s not sure where 50 Cent will be moving to next, though knowing his net worth and income he can easily afford another mansion such as these san clemente ocean view homes for sale. Though many say he is relieved to finally be rid of the property he held onto for so long in order to give it to a good cause.

50 purchased the mansion from Mike Tyson’s ex-wife, Monica Turner back in 2003 for $4.1 Million. The massive property featured 52 rooms and spanned over 50,000 square feet. It had 25 bedrooms, several indoor and outdoor pools, several basketball courts, a recording studio, and even a nightclub.

The mansion is somewhat famous for its lavish appearance yet troubled real estate history. Sometime during his ownership 50 Cent forked up $6 million for renovations, once they were completed he listed the property for $18.5 million in 2007 until finally selling it this year. He had apparently been trying to sell it for over 12 years.

The price it sold for was approximately 84% less than the initial listing, making it one of the biggest depreciations in real estate value in history. Perhaps it was the location that was the problem.

The G-Unity Foundation provides grants to non-profit organizations that aim to improve the quality of life for low-income and underserved communities. The foundation’s goals are to emphasize the critical importance of supporting academic institutions, supporting nonprofit organizations that focus on the academic enrichment of a child, and supporting after school activities.
