The TDE Members reflect on the late rapper.
Mac Miller’s passing in late 2018 affected artists across the music industry, including many people in the TDE camp. In a recent interview with Red Bull Music Academy, TDE’s production MVPs Sounwave, Tae Beast, and Mixed by Ali reflected on their own work with Mac and praised his work.
“He’s the sixth Black Hippy,” Mixed By Ali said, referencing TDE’s supergroup of Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock. Although Black Hippy is mostly discussed as a foursome, Ali seems to be referring to himself as the fifth member due to his close working relationship with all four rappers.
It’s clear that all three men have respect for Mac. “That’s family. One thing about going to a Mac session, is it’s like going to your favorite cousin’s house. It’s always gonna be a good time. I have nothing but praises,” Sounwave said. Watch the full interview above.
