YNW Melly Charged With Two Counts of First-Degree Murder

Rising rapper YNW Melly was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder yesterday (Feb. 13), according to Rolling Stone. The charges are related to the October shooting of Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. Cortlen Henry was also arrested in connection with the murder as well.

In a statement from the Miramar police, Melly and Henry tried make it seem like Williams and Thomas Jr. were killed during a drive-by shooting. The two victims were transported in a Jeep Compass to Memorial Hospital Miramar emergency room, where they died.

The police believe Henry was the driver of the Jeep and that Melly was the gunman. In October, Mellys’ lawyer, Bradford Cohen, said, “He’s sad, he’s upset, obviously. Those were his best friends,” in response to the death of Williams and Thomas.

Melly gained his buzz off the success of his singles like “Murder On My Mind” and “Slang That Iron.” He was later co-signed by Future and Young Thug. After news surfaced of him being a suspect in the case, Melly left a message for his fans on IG:
