Russ seems to be the guy that everyone loves to hate right now. The rapper sat with the Breakfast Club to talk about haters, Zoo, self-production and social media among other topics.

Within a few seconds into the of the interview, Charlemagne asks,”I was wondering, like why do people hate Russ?”

The rapper then list a number of theories as to why he’s become a maligned figure who’s been seem in numerous roast sessions.

“It started because I was always big-upping myself, super confident. When I was coming up, I mixed, mastered, produced everything, and I would say that all the time, because number one, self-sufficiency is a message that should be put out there. Number two, I’m proud of it, you feel me,” he says.

“People started getting mad at that, but it was my stance on drug abuse promotion via Instagram and Twitter. People didn’t like where I stand on that.”
