Jay-Z elevates Roc Nation with new production division
by Staff Editor
Roc Nation hosts a plethora of categories for entertainers worldwide. The entertainment company has backed talents such as Kevin Durant, Rihanna, J.Cole, and Dez Bryant. To add to their diverse services, Roc Nation has announced the launch of their television production division.
The new department will be spearheaded by former Weinstein Co. associate, Patrick Reardon. According to Variety, Reardon will be “running the TV department and focusing on producing premium scripted and unscripted content.”
Shadow and Act notes that this new venture is nothing new for Roc Nation. The company produced Peabody award winning film “Time: The Kalief Browder Story” and “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story” which recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Jay-Z also has his hand in the upcoming film Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? starring Mike Epps as the late comedian. In addition, Race with Jay-Z is upcoming as well.
With so many stories to be told, it only makes sense to infiltrate TV production into your company. We’re looking forward to all the African-American storytelling Jay-Z has in store for us.
