April is here and we’re kicking things off with some up & coming artists more than worthy of your spins. Take a look at new sounds from SAINt JHN, Kyah Baby, Lou Phelps, Saba & Warren Wint and let us know what you think below.

Artist: SAINt JHN

Track: Lust (ft. Janelle Kroll)

Hot Take: The stylishly elusive rapper launches his debut album featuring an opening track “Lust” that sets the tone for his first look this year. Opening with an haunting duet between the two artists that quickly turns into a trap symphony. An artist to watch in 2018.

Artist: Kyah Baby

Track: Freestyle 093

Hot Take: Hailing from Southside Jamaica Queens like Hip-Hop legends before her, the refreshing Kyah Baby finds herself in a unusual predicament with the state of Rap today. With a feverish flow, poignant lyrics and on-time punch lines, she brings something back to a rap field that has been dominated by the club-adjacent mainstream.

Artist: Lou Phelps

Track: Come Inside (ft. Jazz Cartier)

Hot Take: Funk filled and house dripped, newcomer Lou Phelps flows over (his brother) Kaytranada‘s bouncy production. Featuring fellow Canadian Jazz Cartier, the rappers talk about looking for new prospects and describing their favorite features.

Artist: Warren Wint

Track: High Low

Hot Take: Elmont, NY native Warren Wint drops his latest before his new project Quiet As Its Kept next month. On the Danny Dimo produced cut “High Low” Warren wants you to cut straight to the point and tell him what you want from him.

Artist: Saba

Track: Life

Hot Take: Chicago rapper takes an introspective look into his own mortality on “Life”. The track masterfully blends Saba’s spitfire flow with a drums, kicks and guitar.

I know Pac was 25, I know Jesus 33.
