Rich The Kid’s “Dead Friends” debuts as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1 on Apple Music. He talks to Zane about the DJ Mustard produced track aimed at Lil Uzi Vert (and is awaiting a response). Z: “Dead Friends” ladies and gentlemen today’s world record. Rich The Kid. You don’t call your song “Dead Friends” without saying something and when you say something people are going to listen. What are you saying on this record bro?
Rich: I’m just letting people know how money change people and how I stay with the money though the
Z: Fans are going to be all over that record for a lot of reasons. I mean it’s you know there were a lot of references in there that people can immediately pick up. You’ve be open on social yourself and Uzi Vert you had some differences. Is there some reference to you and Uzi and the issues that you’ve had on social media? Feels like theres a lot of references.
Rich: Its funny cause I made this records months before all that and so whatever darkness comes to light. So you listen to the song you know whats going on . Billboard don’t lie.
Z: So is this just hip hop? Is this just entertainment right now to some degree because both of you are succeeding.
Rich: Well you know it’s funny I’m just waiting to see if he’s going to reply back. You know you can’t write better than me though.
Z: You’re fundamentally different artists and you know that man you’re fundamentally different artists.
Rich: You know i aint a singer, so when it comes to singing I ain’t a singer. Hes a singer.

Rich: Album about to drop album going to number 1, I’m about to top the charts, my album out to top the charts.

Z: I’m looking at this track listing right now we have “Early Morning Trappin” with Trippie Redd that’s already movin Rich and that’s a really important record for you right because you and Trippie go back in. I mean I think Trippie was the reason why we kind of got to meet you in the first place.
Rich: Shout out to Trippie though, that’s my bro though. Trippie is a real genuine dude bro, super talented. Thats my guy.
Z: What kind of Future do we get on “No Question”? Do we get Hendrix or do we get Future?
Rich: Bro. I dont even want to give it up. That record is so crazy. Oh my god, you going to have to wait for that. I’m going to have the craziest album.

Rich: Bro I’ve got to I’ve got the biggest album of the year. We is the way we have it an album on the way.
Z: Are you already working on your next project?
Rich: We want to talk about the tracklist on that. Like cmon man stop playing with me.
