Happy 48th Birthday to the man behind majority of the early Cash Money production, Mannie Fresh. From 1993, Mannie Fresh has been the man behind the boards & even the microphone crafting a sound that helped the south become a heavy force in the music industry. In honor of the former Big Tymers member’s birthday, we have put together a list of our favorite records and instrumentals he’s contributed to. (No particular order)

1. Back That Azz Up – Juvenile

“Back That Azz Up” is a classic not only for the south, but for hip-hop. 19 years after its initial release, the record still makes women stop what they’re doing and twerk.

2. And Then What – Jeezy Feat. Mannie Fresh

Lets Get It: Thug Motivation 101 has been deemed a classic in Jeezy’s discography. Mannie Fresh provided a smash hit for Jeezy’s 2005 debut single. The record set the tone for Jeezy as he spoke for dope boys everywhere.

3. Big Shit Poppin’ (Do It) – T.I.

T.I. was on a hell of a run in 2007 with his fifth studio album “T.I. Vs. T.I.P.” Mannie Fresh blessed the Atlanta vet with the lead single that peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

4. Ha – Juvenile

“Ha” was said to be one of the hottest songs to come out of the south in 1998. This record brought New Orleans to the forefront because nobody had heard anything like it. The NOLA inspired bounce on the sharp lead synths with Juvenile’s lyrics was so hot and refreshing. It was so hot, a younger Jay-Z had to hop on the remix.

5. I Need A Hot Girl – Hot Boyz

The Hot Boyz let us know the type of girls they were seeking. A young Lil Wayne got the chance to shine among his Cash Money peers on this Mannie Fresh production.

6. Real Big – Mannie Fresh

It was heartbreaking to see Mannie Fresh leave Cash Money Records, but everybody deserves to get paid. The rapper/producer decided to step out and show he could hold his own via Def Jam. “Real Big” was a big record for Fresh. The song ended up becoming the lead single for the popular racing game, Midnight Club: DUB Edition.

7. Bling Bling – Hot Boyz

Thanks to Cash Money, the term “Bling Bling” spread and became slang across the world. The video was filled with helicopters, money, cars & plenty of bling bling. This was also a chance for a young Lil Wayne to shine among his peers.

8. In My Life – Juvenile

Juvenile returned with the album “Juve The Great” and it was only right Mannie created a hit. Peaking at No. 46 on the Billboard Hot 100, “In My Life” helped Juve keep the fire ablaze.

9. #1 Stunna – Big Tymers

The Big Tymers gave us a lot of records that made you feel like a boss. #1 Stunna definitely fits in that category. The record was released on their 3rd album “I Got That Work” and also featured on the soundtrack for “The Original Kings Of Comedy.”

10. Go DJ – Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne has been lucky to have his hands on production from Mannie Fresh since he was 13 years old. Around the 2004, Lil Wayne was working hard in order to later call himself the “best rapper alive.” He released “Go DJ” for his fourth studio album, Tha Carter. It ended up being Lil Wayne’s first hit record peaking at No. 14 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
