If you logged on Twitter at all yesterday you had to see it: the debate on if Drake or Nelly was bigger in their primes.

There was the success of Hot in Herre vs. Hotline Bling, Derrty Ent vs. OVO, talks of endorsement deals and beyond. The battle came out of nowhere and was one of the more spirited debates to take over online in a while.

The debate even reached our team who decided to take the hip-hop popularity battle from the Internet to the first Civil Court of 2017.

For those who don’t know, our Civil Court series features two of our writers, who debate a specific topic with opposing views. This battle features Travis Grier on team Nelly, and Shawn Grant on team Drake.
