Elliott Wilson has blessed us with a ton of memorable interviews through his innovative CRWN series, but his latest effort might be his best yet.

With the industry’s eyes glued on them at the moment, YN called on A Tribe Called Quest to sit down for an in-depth interview in front of a live audience.

Discussing a slew of things, Q-Tip and Jarobi White, who was joined by frequent collaborators Busta Rhymes and Consequence, spoke on their new album and the success they’re having from it, the legacy of Phife Dawg and how much he inspired this album, the group’s inseparable bond, favorite memories of Phife, and much more. Here’s some highlights from the interview:

“This incarnation of what tribe is today, is the most fulfilling thing I have ever done.”Q-Tip

“I put the pen to the pad and it feels like I am channeling something. Phife was setting me up, I am really fortunate.”Jarobi White

“How amazing is it that Phife had a number 1 album for his birthday this weekend.”Consequence

“The thing that inspired it was we performed on Jimmy Fallon for the 25th anniversary of the first album. We immediately felt that energy. Jarobi and I were heading to the site, and I was like we need to do an EP.”Q-TIP

This CRWN interview was a TIDAL exclusive, and can be seen below in its entirety if you have an account. If not, you can see a 3-minute preview, and can sign up for TIDAL here.
