Sad news for Kevin Gates fans. The outspoken rapper has been sentenced to 180 days in a Polk County jail after being found guilty of kicking a female fan violently in the chest during one of his concerts last year.

The concert in question took place last year at Rumor’s Night Club in Lakeland where the victim Miranda Dixon accused Gates of kicking her violently in the chest after she tried getting his attention. She testified that, as a fan, she was trying to get his attention by grabbing his pants, and only after the 2nd attempt, Gates proceeded to kick her extremely hard in her chest causing injuries.

Gates admits to kicking the fan, however says he was simply defending himself and even referenced Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law as backup. The jury, made up of six women, saw it differently and after 2 hours of deliberation found Gates guilty of battery.
