The wildly successful Jennifer Hudson has another big moment ahead of her.

It was announced earlier today that the Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG and Grammy Award-winner will star in NBC’s upcoming Broadway musical event “Hairspray Live!” alongside multiple Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein. J-Hud will star as Motormouth Maybelle in this now highly anticipated special.

This new special follows up the well-received, and incredibly popular production of “The Wiz Live!.” Director Alex Rudzinski, who’s responsible for directing “Grease Live!” as well as “Dancing With the Stars” from 2005-2014, will be on board for this premiere, adding even more excitement.

“We are beyond thrilled with this incredibly talented duo of stars for ‘Hairspray Live!,’” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. He continues, “We’re so grateful that the incomparable Jennifer Hudson will play Motormouth Maybelle and we know her rendition of ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’ will literally stop the show.”
