The legendary Ms. Lauryn Hill is slated to be a part of a three-day music and arts series that celebrates the African Diaspora.

Titled “Diaspora Calling,” the event was put together by Lauryn and a private art gallery at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre and will be opened today and tomorrow (April 15) from 12-4pm.

Not only did Lauryn help curate the gallery (with the help of Nader Haitian Art, MoCADA, and the Haiti Cultural Exchange), she also DJ’d the opening event.

Intended to “celebrate the rich tapestry of artists from the African Diaspora, while also illumining persistent and irrepressible themes,” the event comes with a jam packed roster of those who are known in the international artists’ community.

The headline concert, which is sold out and will be on Friday, features the likes of Stephen Marley, Mr. Eazi, JoJo Abot, Machel Montano, and more.

“Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves,” Ms. Lauryn says of the collective.
