Every artist looks to state their claim on the new year in hip-hop, and with a month down it looks like we can tell who the major players are: Kanye West and Drake.

Both global superstars are preparing their next solo albums, Drizzy with Views from the 6 and Yeezus with So Help Me God SWISH Waves. But which one will be deemed more important?

Kanye West’s effort will be his first since 2013’s Yeezus, an album that is critically heralded but polarizing among Kanye traditionalist and conformist. With Drake, he is coming off a monster year with “Hotline Bling” and a couple extraordinary mixtape runs that has him primed for a victory lap.
