Op-Ed: The Only Thing Hip-Hop’s Missing This Year Is A New Andre 3000 Album

The hip-hop music we’ve gotten thus far in 2015 has been full of great sounds, powerful messages and set the foundation for the rise of many new artists.

The albums, mixtapes, singles, and even music videos have all improved compared to recent years and almost everyone from Drake to Future to Meek to Wayne and more have dropped promising projects. With just a few more big names set to release major projects this year including Dr. Dre (tomorrow 8/7), Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Mac Miller, etc., there’s one name in particular who could take full advantage of hip-hop’s more open mindedness – Andre 3000.

Three Stacks has basically been off the radar for almost a decade now, and it’s been very discouraging for his faithful fan base. His reunion with Big Boi last year to do some Outkast headlining performances throughout the summer blew our minds, but didn’t settle our souls. Most of the hip-hop community would argue that Dr. Dre’s Detox album has been the most anticipated hip-hop album of all-time, but they seem to forget that Andre has spoken on a solo project for almost a decade as well.

Through interview hints, many fans had hoped that the MC would grace our ears with a full Andre 3000 project that he promised to release, but by December, we are consistently left high, dry, and discouraged. What is he waiting for? What is taking so long? When can we have an update? The issue at hand might not have been the time, but maybe the energy.
