Joe Budden Podcast To Separate From Spotify After Host Says The Platform “Never Cared” About His Show
by Staff Editor
Due to claims that Spotify was “pillaging” his audience, podcast host Joe Budden has revealed that “The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory and Mal” will end its run with the streaming platform by the end of September of this year. Budden detailed the deal and why he is ending the two-year exclusive contract on the latest episode of his popular digital show.
“September 23rd, I cannot tell you where this podcast will be. But as it stands, I can tell you where it will not be, and that is Spotify,” says Budden as he explains the current grounds his show stands on. As he believes Spotify has “undermined and undervalued” his show, Joe further explains, “Spotify never cared about this podcast individually. Spotify only cared about our contribution to the platform.” According to a source at Variety, Budden has had a new offer on the table from Spotify, but more than likely has passed on it as he described the arrangement for his show as a “bum a** deal.”
