Just last night (4/23), Alicia Keys paid tribute to her hometown of New York and the people who are on the frontlines of the Coronavirus battle, with a moving rendition of her song, “Empire State of Mind” during BET’s Saving Our Selves: A BET COVID-19 Effort. 

Alicia joined other New York celebrities offering heartfelt messages of encouragement, including Whoopi Goldberg, Queen Latifah, Diddy and MC Lyte.

The tribute also featured staff at New York’s Montefiore Health System because they play “Empire State of Mind” over the loud speakers each time a COVID-19 patient is discharged. A member of the nursing staff shared the video on Twitter and Alicia responded directly with, “I am touched beyond words.”
